4 min readUpdated 6/1/2025

How to Check Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO Warranty Status

Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO (all Xiaomi sub-brands) have different warranty terms by country and model. Here's how to verify warranty before buying a used device or to check remaining coverage on your own phone.

Xiaomi Warranty Check — Official Methods

Method 1 — Mi Community / Xiaomi HyperOS Settings:

  1. Open Settings → About Phone → Warranty Information (available on HyperOS devices)
  2. Shows warranty status, start date, and expiry date

Method 2 — Xiaomi India Website:

  1. Visit mi.com/in/service/warranty
  2. Enter your IMEI number
  3. Warranty status and expiry date displayed

Method 3 — Premium IMEI Check: imeicheckpro.com includes Xiaomi warranty data for supported models in the premium report.

Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO Warranty Periods (India)

  • Smartphones: 1 year limited warranty
  • Battery: 6 months (separate from device warranty)
  • In-box accessories (charger, cable): 6 months
  • Xiaomi smart home products: 1 year

The India vs Global MIUI/HyperOS Risk

Xiaomi phones sold for India run India-specific HyperOS builds with different pre-installed apps, India-specific features, and BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification. Phones imported from China (global version or Chinese version) lack BIS certification and India warranty. IMEI check reveals the manufacturing region and whether the device has proper Indian certification.

What to Check When Buying Used Xiaomi/Redmi/POCO

  • ✓ IMEI check for model verification and India region confirmation
  • ✓ Mi Account lock status (critical — a Mi Account locked phone cannot be set up)
  • ✓ Warranty status via mi.com/in/service/warranty
  • ✓ Check for "Engineering Mode" or modified firmware (indicates tampering)
  • ✓ Verify BIS certification: Settings → About Phone → Regulatory
