IMEI Check in Ghana: National Communications Authority Guide
Ghana's National Communications Authority (NCA) manages the country's telecom regulations and operates an IMEI database connecting MTN Ghana, AirtelTigo, and Telecel Ghana. Here's how to check and register phone IMEIs in Ghana.
NCA IMEI Check Ghana
- Visit the NCA website at nca.org.gh for the latest IMEI verification portal
- Alternatively, send your IMEI to the NCA's SMS verification number (check nca.org.gh for current number)
- Contact your carrier directly: MTN Ghana (100), AirtelTigo (400), Telecel (100)
Ghana IMEI Device Registration
Ghana has implemented IMEI device registration to reduce phone theft and counterfeit devices. The NCA periodically runs campaigns where unregistered devices are blocked from networks. Key points:
- All phones officially imported and sold in Ghana should be IMEI-registered with the NCA
- Phones brought in personally from abroad may need to be registered
- Counterfeit phones with invalid IMEIs are blocked
Reporting Stolen Phones in Ghana
- File a police report at Ghana Police Service
- Contact your carrier (MTN/AirtelTigo/Telecel) with your IMEI and police case number
- Carriers coordinate with NCA to block the IMEI nationally
