IMEI Check in Bangladesh: BTRC NED System

Bangladesh's Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) operates the National Equipment Identity Register (NED) — Bangladesh's national IMEI database. Here's how to check IMEI status and what Bangladesh's IMEI regulations mean for phone buyers.

Bangladesh IMEI Check via BTRC NED

  1. Visit ned.btrc.gov.bd (BTRC's NED portal)
  2. Enter your 15-digit IMEI number
  3. Results show if the IMEI is registered, blocked, or not found in Bangladesh's database

Alternatively, dial *16162# from a Bangladesh number to check IMEI status via USSD.

What Happens to Unregistered IMEIs in Bangladesh

BTRC has been systematically blocking phones with:

  • Duplicate or cloned IMEI numbers
  • Invalid IMEI formats (e.g., all zeros)
  • IMEI numbers not registered in the GSMA database

Legitimate phones from official distributors are automatically registered. Phones brought in informally from India, China, or other markets may not be registered.

Buying Used Phones in Bangladesh

Bangladesh's second-hand phone market is active on platforms like Bikroy.com and Facebook Marketplace. Key risks:

  • Counterfeit Samsung Galaxy phones (extremely common — always verify via IMEI check)
  • Unregistered imports that may be blocked
  • iCloud-locked iPhones

Always verify brand and model at imeicheckpro.com/free-check before purchasing any used phone in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Carriers

Bangladesh's major carriers are Grameenphone (GP), Robi, Banglalink, and Teletalk. All participate in the BTRC NED system for IMEI blocking of stolen and counterfeit devices.
